On Your First Visit
Getting to church
Hazel Green United Methodist Church is at 14131 Highway 231-431 located
in 'downtown' Hazel Green across from the cotton gin. It is
located on the west side of the highway, about 1/4 mile south of
the West Limestone / Joe Quick intersection. The traditional services
are located in the Sanctuary on the south side of the building. The
contemporary service is located in the Gym on the
north, rear side of the property.
Where do I park?
Parking lots surround the building and there are doors all
around the facility. Parking in the south lot is easiest access to our
traditional services at 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM , and 6:30 PM. Parking in the back lot is
easiest access to our 9:45 AM contemporary service. In all cases we have
visitor parking reserved for you, and parking lot greeters to help you
find your way around.
How should I dress?
While
some folks like to wear their 'Sunday best,' many wear casual and
comfortable clothes on Sunday morning. You will see suits and ties and
dresses, as well as blue jeans and tennis shoes, and everything in
between, in both our traditional and contemporary services. Come as you
are. Our doors are open to everyone.
Do I need to bring anything?
If you
have a Bible, bring it with you to church. Then you'll be able to
follow along with the reading. If you don't have a Bible, don't worry
about it. We have some available in the pew racks in our traditional
services and we display the Scripture passages on the screens in our
contemporary worship.
When should I get there?
Sunday
morning services begin at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:00. Sunday school and
small groups meet at 9:45 on Sunday mornings. It's a good idea to get
here a few minutes early until you learn you way around, and especially
if you have children who will go to the nursery or to Sunday school.
What about my children?
Hazel
Green United Methodist has excellent preschool, children and youth
ministries. Greeters in the parking lot will help you in getting your
children to their class. Our nursery cares for babies from birth to 35
months. We have children's activity packs for children 3 years and up
as they transition into worship with us, and children of all ages are
invited (not required) to go to the front for a special children's
minute each morning in our traditional service. All
children and youth are welcome in every service, whether nursery age or
not. We welcome your child even with all his or her
squirming and noises as Christ Himself did, so our
nurseries are simply
provided for your comfort and choice. If you join us for Sunday school
and small group time, we have classes for children and youth of all ages,
and we will help you find the right groups for your whole family.
